(Also known as Knitlob's Lair)
The base we used is Väinämöinen DK (75% Superwash Wool, 25% Nylon; 206 yards [185 meters] /100g) and they named our special colorway: Indigo.
Everything Louhittaren Luola does is deeply rooted in Finnish heritage, including the names of the yarns. Väinämöinen is the major character in Finnish National Epic, Kalevala, and Väinämöinen was the perfect name for our first yarn ever. Väinämöinen is the ultimate sock yarn: durable, machine-washable fingering weight yarn which yields great texture in all of our over 300 colorways. Väinämöinen DK is based on this trusty workhorse of a yarn, spun of the same materials to the same, incredible quality by our spinnery in Germany, using only the best materials.
Väinämöinen DK is a smooth 8-ply yarn which shows cables exceptionally well. This superwash yarn is a natural choice for the cabled garment you want to wear every day!We used this yarn in an incredible turtleneck pullover design and the requirements are, for sizes XS (S, M, L, XL, 2XL) : 6 (7, 8, 8, 9, 9, 10) skeins.
Today, the color charts for all Louhittaren Luola yarns include over 300 repeatable shades, and Indigo is the newest addition to them.
